Bird of the day -The REAL people's Princess

Today's Royal Wedding was full of the usual pomp & circumstance that any Royal gala would have- the elaborate festivities for William and Kate, the exaggerated press coverage, the over obsessing and prying of a young couple who's life will never be the same again.

I have very mixed feelings about the wedding. In one hand I do find it quite beautiful that a young couple, such as William and Kate, are joining their lives together in what seems with a very genuine and mutual love and compassion for one another. On the other hand, I do fear that the outside world is already too involved in this couples private, intimate life.

And of course, that makes me think of Princess Diana. I feel very sympathetic for the beautiful woman who lived a very short, dark, and overly public life. She married young into a loveless marriage and is quoted with having marriage troubles "since day 2", her every move was dissected, criticized and over-analyzed to the point of losing all of her privacy and whose days with her 2 beloved children were tragically cut short by none other than the media.

Even though at times her life seemed bleak and straining, she never once let it get in the way of her heart. Princess Diana was loving, compassionate, unselfish, caring, down-to-earth and warm. And she did it all with pure class, grace, and charm.

So today's post is dedicated to her on what I imagine would have been one of the happiest days of her life; the marriage of her eldest son. Princess Diana would have loved William's and Kate's wedding.

Best of luck to the newlywed Royal couple.

April in the words of T.S. Eliot

‎"APRIL is the cruellest month, breeding
Lilacs out of the dead land,
mixing Memory and desire, stirring
Dull roots with spring rain." -TS Eliot

Wow. What an April this has been. Cruel indeed. But Spring means rebirth and changes right?

Michelle Williams for Interview Magazine - May 2011

If these pictures of Michelle Williams channeling her inner Mia Farrow circa Rosemary's Baby, aren't the cutest things ever then I don't know what is! I am loving the dreamy, icy-blue look of the photographs. And that baby blue dress- too adorable! I need more polka dots and baby blue in my life.

And please don't get me started on those Peter pan collars- mercy!

Colemino A/W 2011

I may be jumping ahead by posting A/W collections in Spring, but with so many Fall look books popping up already who can wait for Autumn to show them off!

For example, Colemino's A/W 2011 line. What else can I say other than it's everything I want a Autumn/Winter line to be! Cozy, classic, clean, and charming! (My new 4 C's) Colemino's Fall line is inspired by women aviators of the 20th century! How perfect is that?!

Bird of The Day - Midori

In a post that is only fitting for today's Suehiro Mauro's theme, Midori, our young and very stylish heroine from Mr. Arashi's Amazing Freak Show, is my Bird of the Day!

So much fashion inspiration comes from this tiny little girl! The amazing black bob, the coordinating Polka-dot dress with matching bow combo,  the patent leather red Mary Jane shoes, the collard shirt with black bow-tie. I would be lying if I told you I didn't sometimes get dressed and use Midori's looks as an inspiration. She is one very chic little girl!

The brilliance of Suehiro Maruo

It was years ago that I first stumbled upon the work of Japanese illustrator Suehiro Maruo and I was immediately captivated by his whimsically grotesque, violently erotic, nightmarish artwork.

Suehiro has been illustrating since age 17, at 26 his first manga anthology, Rose Colored Monster, was published in Japan. Since then, he has illustrated numerous novels, including; Lunatic Lovers,  Ultra- Gash Inferno, The Laughing Vampire, and Mr. Arashi's Amazing Freak Show. Mr. Maruos work has been featured in magazines worldwide such as Garo, Juxtapoz and Beautiful Decay.

Now please enjoy the works of this extremely talented artist!

Birds of the day - Motorcycle edition!

Writing the Birds of the Day Automobile edition post was so much fun that I decided to once again bro out and do a post about chicks and heavy machinery. Oh yeaaaa.

Now I don't own a motorcycle, and I wouldn't be able to drive one if my life depended on it, but going through vintage photographs of BSAs, Ducati's, Triumphs, Hondas and Nortons sure got my engine running. These photos are splendid not only because of the vintage bikes, but because of the lovely ladies that grace the bikes with their presences. The Birds make these pictures a little leather, a little lace.
