Meeting Miss Moffitt

This is one of the hardest posts I have ever written. Words are not really doing their life's purpose and allowing me to describe how utterly in awe and star struck I still feel from Friday nights event. How does one go about describing a moment where they were taking in every nano second while it was happening and yet totally blanking out at the same time? The occasion seemed to be a byproduct of years and years of manifesting and putting the idea out into the world, and yet at the same time a sheer case of "being at the right place and the right time".

I mean after all, to me Peggy Moffitt is my ultimate girl crush. And having the chance to meet my biggest style inspiration and fashion icon at The Total Look exhibit at MOCA, was really such a life changing event to me.

The whole evening was a blast and very memorable because not only did I get to meet such a hero of mine but it was spent with people who not only share my enthusiasm for beautiful design and exquisite vintage fashion, but who are dear friends in my life. I couldn't be happier with how my momentous evening turned out.

Wearing Audrey's Rudi Gernreich Pop Art dress in front of the display @ MOCA

A Rudi Dress and Ferragamos?! This is my interpretation of heaven!

My favorite Rudi outfit- The Japanese School uniform. It was such a treat to finally see this beautful ensemble in person!

Short hemlines and empire waist everywhere! I absolutely adore it.

Is there anything more feminine than a square neckline?

What's black, white and red all over? My second favorite Rudi piece on display. Of course put sharply together with matching red Ferragamos. I want to cry.

And behold! The beautiful Peggy Moffitt in all her glory. She looked amazingly fabulous and was everything I imagined her to be! She is such an icon!

Peggy signing my Pretty Pretty Peggy Moffitt book, this picture is silly but only shows a small glimpse of my excitement and giddiness.

She still has the better haircut - must give it up for the original.

Peggy and I talking. She told me I had great taste in literature when I handed her my Pretty Pretty Peggy Moffitt book for her to sign. She is such a sassy little thing! I love it!

And at the end I finally got my Peggy Moffitt book signed. I knew exactly what page I wanted her signature on - the Japanese School Uniform page of course!

So remember this boys and girls of the blog world - dreams can come true and when they do its so AWESOME!

Dear Creatures Look Book S/S 10

My talented friends at Dear Creatures, Bianca & Rob,  have done it again and have designed the quintessential, charming, Spring collection! This seasons collection features Dear Creature staples such as Sailor Inspired shift dresses and clever prints but also incorporates new pieces that will sure become instant classics like Jersey separates, elegant strapless dresses and clean cut outs.

The concept of the look book was inspired the ideal Southern California housewife and a house sitter who dreams of becoming "Mrs. Jones". Even grown up girls like to daydream and play dress up :)

I cannot wait to own some pieces from this very sophisticated Dear Creatures collection!

Great job team DC xoxo

Ingenue Collection

It has been said that Albert Einstein wore the exact same outfit every single day and had a closet full of the same, shirts, suits, ties, socks and shoes. Now wearing the same outfit everyday would be a little dull, but what about the same colors? Having a closet full of various styles but all in the same colorway may actually work! By having the same colorways you can create a signature look for yourself and getting dressed would be a breeze!  It's very Einstein but without the repetition- now that's genius!

The first brand I would fill my closet with to achieve this color uniformity would be Los Angeles based label Ingenue. Not only are their designs darling, but they have incorporated the chicest of color combinations into their collection- black & white! Having a closet full of Ingenue's girly, Valley of The Dolls inspired dresses, rompers and separates would be the epitome of color coordination perfection and retro sex appeal! Very smart.

Amber Anderson for Harper's Bazaar Espanol

Here is a editorial straight out of my Mod pop-art dreams! Beautiful Amber Anderson is photographed by Benjamin Kanarek for Harper's Bazaar Espanol May 2011 issue. This editorial pops with beaming colors, lively prints, and Miss Anderson looking like a very swinging kitten! This illuminating pictorial makes me want to load up on orange lip gloss, trim my hair, relish in bright colors and all around (try to) look as fab as Amber.

Separated at birth?

Well more like separated by a few decades. It amazes me that young celebrities like Lily Allen and Daisy Lowe have dopplegangers who were born a good 30 years before them. The physical similarities are uncanny. Kate Bush and Daisy Lowe have the exact doe eyes, sultry brown mane and even similar pouty smiles. As where Lily Allen and Billie Davis have the same big, round dark eyes and thick 60's vibe bangs. I love them all and just comes to show you that old can be new again and great beauty transcends time!

Kate Bush born 1958, Daisy Lowe born 1989

Bille Davis born 1945, Lily Allen born 1985.

Happy 2012 from Ahoy hoy!

A very happy New Year to all! My New Year resolution for 2012 is to drink more water and to write more blog posts. I chose easy things that are more achievable than my real goals of a 150K salary and to grow to be 5'10 in height. (Girls get a second growth spurt at 27 correct?)

Here's to 2012!
